Japan is doing fine: it's just LAX-TYO has far too much capacity.

Checking tomorrow (SUN 5FEB) we have:

1x LAX-NRT SQ
1x LAX-HND DL
1x LAX-HND AA
1x LAX-HND JL
1x LAX-NRT JL
1x LAX-NRT Zipair
2x LAX-HND NH
1x LAX-NRT NH
1x LAX-NRT UA

in addition to 1x SAN-NRT JL and 1x LAX-KIX JL

LAX is also not a real hub for UA so the feed is quite weak. SFO DEN IAH and ORD also all have their own flights to TYO
