What a positively ludicrous imposition by the government on the autonomy of its subjects. How dare any government declare what one can and cannot do with their own body? Kiwis ought to take a page from the Jacobins.

It is both appalling and offensive when such curtailments of liberty are performed under the guise of “Father Government knows best” and it is even worse such actions are applauded. Paulhan’s seminal essay comes to mind (Le bonheur dans l'esclavage).
