Just spent a week at one of my favorite hotels: The Shelbourne, Autograph Collection in Dublin. I was there for 7 nights for work (first international business trip since COVID started).
My father joined me from London for the weekend which was fun and we visited the Book fo Kells, Dublin Castle, and the Jameson distrillery. We had 2 great dinners at Sole (seafood) and FX Buckley (steak house) - both within walking distance.
I am Lifetime Titanium and was Ambassador in 2020 which has been extended due to COVID.
They upgraded me a couple of days before to a King Heritage Room. I saw that Junior Suites were still for sale for my dates in the Bonvoy app so before I arrived I sent a polite message in the app asking if they would consider upgrading me to a suite. They said they'd check with the manager and came back 30 mins later confirming.
This video shows the amazing room they upgraded me to. It was fantastic. Comfy beds, sheets, and pillows, great water pressure in the shower.
Had an amazing breakfast in the Saddle Room most mornings ordering from the menu instead of the buffet (although I wish their fresh pressed juices were included).
Buffet includes eggs to order, sausage, hash browns, grilled tomatoes, grilled mushrooms, pastries, toast, cereal, juices, fruit, cheese, salmon, Irish scones, Irish soda bread, and other items.
The menu includes various hot dishes, eggs benedict, french toast, porridge. There is an charge for the fresh juice "cocktails", and an upcharge for the special Shelbourne Eggs Benedict with Irish Filet Mignon. cappuccino, espresso, tea, coffee, etc is included.
Service at breakfast is fantastic.
They had totally refreshed the lobby since my last stay. The little "museum" had moved to near the elevators and the concierge desk moved across the lobby. It looks modern, brighter, but still classic.
And of course some of my favorite Shelbourne touches were still there: Elemis products in the bathroom, complimentary still and sparkling water in the room (refreshed daily and also if requested) and plenty of complimentary Nespresso and tea (also refreshed daily and if requested). A short time after check in they brought me three macaroons which I promptly consumed.
The showers now have wall dispensers for the Elemis products but they still had minis on the countertop.
Only complaints were: heat is hard to control, shower is not designed for tall people, and tub is not designed for tall / big people.
