I am female and travel with my daughter (age 14) all the time. We have the same last name. When we check in, I scan my boarding pass on my phone and then scan hers. The TSA agent asks her for her name and age. Then they let us through. I've never had anyone ask for her birth certificate or any proof that I am her mother.
