Sadly, maybe just HUCA for the 4th / 5th / 6th time...

I called yesterday, after having booked ORD-HND in J, and said I wanted to add a segment. I mentioned the flight number / date (in this case, it's the day after my arrival (stopover), and the agent added it and mentioned the extra 5k miles it would cost. All done in < 10 minutes, which impressed me!

I've read before that sometimes agents can't book it as a multi city and don't see the availability if you were to say it was YVR-NRT-SGN. Maybe emphasize that you're adding a segment as a stopover? Hopefully that helps.
