You need to show your NEXUS/GE card in YYZ to use the shorter security lines. You dont need it for the GE machines once past security, nor do you need your passport, its face recognition only.
I was just there last night and presumably (?) used the shorter security line (the one that just has room for a queue of 4 people/containers at the x ray machine, I just followed the Global Entry signs). No one asked to see my GE card. Then walked right out and to the kiosks. Perhaps something has changed or it was a slow night?
