I think people can spot the differences, but you underestimate the power of sharing "unlimited" stuff. I worked in a business that offered a similar business model. People would take advantage all of the time. Not just people in their household either. I'm not sure what the big hangup is on social security numbers. It's portrayed as if you are posting your social on the dark web. For immediate family members, it's not an issue whatsoever. For other family members looking to get in, you probably aren't fearful your family member with a Platinum is going to ruin your life. Especially as the trust goes both ways with you being on their account. I doubt people are going to be adding friends to credit cards in any significant number. These coworkers who would go in before, have many avenues to still enter. Many are not strangers to the world around us being more expensive. Some will absolutely pay the $50 entrance. Some already have their own card.
Of course there are always groups of people who would have "shared" Amex platinum accounts, just like people who buy refundable SW flights to get into centurion lounges. However, if they are this cheap, I doubt they travel much.
