Yes, thank you, good point! Just came back to edit my post to reflect that after I read the rules on Star Alliance Upgrade, but you beat me to it. Maybe I could try mileage upgrade first since I have a bunch of miles, and if it doesn't clear, then waitlist with the PlusPoints.
