related topic: how does UA calculate flown miles? They are not listed for each flight. I was at 996k+ before MUC-ORD and one of the flight attendants confirmed that the flight was 4500 miles. Yet my current lifetime total is 1,000,218. Are nautical miles used instead? Is there a way to see tracked history for flown miles, or just reward “miles”?
Congratulaitons on your milestone.
There is no way to track the history of miles flown. A number of Flyertalkers set up personal spreadsheet to track actual flown miles.
The tool to caculate the miles is called Great Circle Mapper. Please see link below:

UA's calculaitons are consistent with the numbers shown in Great Circle Mapper (sometimes 1 or 2 miles of minor differences on certain routes).
