Note that IAD-SFO and SFO-SIN are both very difficult upgrades, as (a) they'll sell all of business class seats and (b) the upgrade list takes United status and class of service into account.
Thanks, jsloan. Definitely much clearer.
Another follow-up question: say I am trying to upgrade that same flight (or any other international flight) to BusinessPolaris using miles, I know I should look at the "PZ" bucket. Let's assume that bucket is currently at zero. Will United release more seats in the "PZ" bucket? Same question for the "RN" bucket, would United release more as we move forward? Thank you!
