In the past I've had success getting AA to rebook me in JL F on a different route and then have JL open up the inventory via their liaison during an involuntary change like this. Fortunately, I've only got 1 award segment affected by the ORD downgauge (and, fortunately, it was an itinerary with an onwards ORD-NYC connection). AA EXP desk has already rebooked me on HND-JFK in F and I'm waiting for the JL liaison to confirm the new flight. Not holding my breath, but fairly hopeful JL will do the right thing again. I'll report back. YMMV.
