On my last stay prior to the pandemic I noticed a number of things
The carpets were severely stained in the hallways and the breakfast while satisfactory was not 5 star caliber and just meh.The buffet table has a few nice things on it bread fruit etc
So many rotating executive chefs
Because I have had so many years of liking this iconic hotel I just kind of looked the other way as Mark Former GM and his fantastic guest service manager took such great care of me
I cannot justify 45k a night or 1200 Ozzie dollars a night.Would I go back after decades of staying there.
Perhaps to share the experience with family or loved ones and hope the new management team is half as good.
I'm far happier elsewhere for less than half the price with better fitness centers better dining and equally comfortable rooms sans the opera house views
But to those who go who aren't value sensitive I get it.Still a Sydney must for first time experiences to end your trip with or a special occasion or perhaps for more privacy the private wing
where mere hotel guests are not allowed to walk through the hallways
