the pros:
They actually treat loyalty members well. The Executive Lounge is well stocked. The breakfast buffet is quite good. You might actually get a room upgrade. The rooms themselves are decent.
the cons:
It isn’t on Venice’s main island, but rather on Guidecca. The hotel offers a water taxi which takes about 15 minutes to reach St Mark’s square. This might not seem like a big deal at first, but not being on the main island and having to take a water taxi gets old pretty fast. It would be nice to be able to pop in and out of my room to freshen up for dinner, or drop some bags off. The water taxi is also on a schedule, so you may find yourself waiting for a while to get back to your room.
the second main con is that the hotel itself and the rooms occasionally smell like sewer gas. European plumbing in general tends to have this issue, but it’s very noticeable at this hotel.
I love this hotel and stayed in June 2022. I felt very well treated as a Diamond. I really liked being on Giudecca and away from the tourists and there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance.Taking the hotel shuttle was fine for us and felt luxurious compared to the public options. We only ever used the hotel shuttle, and not the water buses. In the evening the shuttle makes a stop right across the canal from the hotel and takes 5 minutes. We ate dinner in that area for 2 nights because it was not in the thick of the busy areas.
