I rang the 1k line yesterday to see if they'd extend my remaining PP for another couple of weeks for an upcoming trip to the US. All I got offered was the status buyup that's been extensively discussed here: $4,307 or 478,500 miles in my case (I was just above the PQP but close to plat on the PQF). No thanks -- even after the agent reminded me I'd get a fractionally higher multiplier as plat rather than gold! I then called the UK mileage plus line and was told that "lots" of people had requested extensions and it was with Mileage Plus central office and they were considering this and I should call back tomorrow for an update. It's now Feb 1 even in the US and my a/c shows Gold but still with my PP which expired yesterday -- I guess it may take a while for those to removed (assuming no extension...). I just rang back but the person I spoke to said they hadn't heard of this possibility and the office was in any case still closed. Will see but not hopeful!
