Not really - although restaurant was a redeeming point

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Standard, received 2 King Beds Standard

How are the rooms?
The hotel website says "recently undergone a £9 million refurbishment and extension project transforming nearly all areas of the hotel". This is not correct. There are effectively two room blocks - the original one which is run down and a new one which looks very nice (at least from the corridor). My room was in the original area (I stayed here when the hotel first converted to a Holiday Inn in 2012 and I think the rooms haven't changed). I don't think there's a way of guaranteeing a newer room.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Lobby has been renovated and has a surprisingly good restaurant (for both evening meal and breakfast)
Wifi OK

Bad:
Old rooms
Very cold. The new areas of the hotel were significantly warmer than the old areas. The air conditioning kept switching off in the room - reception were able to override this but the bathroom remained very cold
Points haven't posted (a subsequent stay in a far better hotel has)

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Very good value but there is a £12.50 parking charge. It is about 15 minute drive from the airport so I think I'll try elsewhere next time
