Depends. On some CR9, yes it will fit. On other, might not.
No gate check as in sky check. Except, you can probably check your bag at the gate but they'll offer to check to your final destination.
They might be willing to check only to YYZ, but then you would need to get out of security to go to arrivals and pick it up, and go through security again.
(3) use Signature Suite for the whole duration of stopover? as the flight is sold as LX codeshare, but it is not a reward flight
Sure, why not? Once, I spent the nigh at YYC, checked in late morning for sn evening flight. Spent the whole day in the SS lounge. Lunch and dinner. Mind you, that was pre-covid. I don't think I have connected at YYZ post-covid except if on an upgraded itinerary.
