This has been a great (unpublished?) benefit that I've used many times during the years. Yesterday I was told at CPH that this is no longer allowed, with a memo having been sent out 3 weeks ago. Apparently you're only allowed to stand-by if your booking class is C, which seems to be a moot point as you're then anyway already able to change to any flight with available seats.
It is also interesting since SK doesn't consistently book into C even when you book a SAS Plus Pro ticket. These usually book into A and you can't just change to earlier flights even as a Diamond.
I really don't get why EU airlines are so hesitant to enable same day changes. I use this in the US all the time, even between different airports, i.e. Delta lets you change SFO-XXX to same day SJC-XXX and vice versa. I would really appreciate the flexibility this provides.
