I'm fairly ignorant on Royaltons specifically, but worldwide any Marriott/Bonvoy resorts don't give access to the club lounge automatically, so whilst this is disappointing to see a benefit withdrawn, it wasn't guaranteed in the first place?

From my experience, most other resort properties you have to pay extra to get access to the club lounge, even at the Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott "Resort" which is a prime example of somewhere misbehaving to disallow elites and was originally a normal Marriott - and should get limited business as a result. It sounds like Royalton is at least giving some benefits... (obviously not the same as the lounge )
