Different confirmation numbers - will that affect us?
Yesterday I booked RT flights from HND to SEA for me, my wife, and daughter. Used my miles to book the flights. Because of problems with Delta website, I ended up calling the reservation agent to make the bookings. However, the agent initially misunderstood me and booked only a flight for me. When I realized what had happened, I explained to the agent that I needed 3 tickets, and she then booked my wife and daughter. Then, I saw that I had a different confirmation number than the one for my wife and daughter.
I'm Gold elite, so when I went to website after the bookings were made to choose seats, some of the seats in economy that were available to me were not available to them unless they paid extra. I called Delta again and explained the situation, and that agent kindly reserved seats next to me for wife and daughter for no extra charge. I asked if there would be any problems with different confirmation numbers but he said no there shouldn't be.
What if I'm offered an upgrade to Comfort + based on my Gold status? I assume my wife and daughter will not be offered that. Will there be other small inconveniences related to my Gold status benefits? Also, what about at arrival in Seattle? I have a US passport, while they each have a Japan passport. Will separate booking numbers show that we are traveling separate, which means that they cannot go through the same passport line as me or other complications?
Should I call Delta again to get us all on the same number? Or am I concerned about nothing?
