Interested in a location that is easy to get transportation to/from hotel and perhaps walking distance to interesting sites. The Plaza rates are about 40€ more per night than the Park; is it worth paying more for the Plaza? Any and all insights would be appreciated! (And from others who have stayed at both!)
Hi,
Both are in good locations for exploring central vienna ( both are almost equidistant to Stephansplatz and are on the ring road which have trams also). anywhere in central vienna is good for exploring central vienna and the undeground is useful for the outlying destinations
Vienna Plaza is beside Schottentor U2 line (part of it is closed for works) where as Vienna Park is close to Landstrasse /Wien mitte for the airport trains and the U3/U4 lines ( 4 to schonbrun palace)
vienna park has been recently renovated in the lobby
The executive lounge at the plaza may have slightly better food ( not enough for a full meal) but the park is larger ( given the larger hotel) and both are beautifully decorated and useful for breakfast and afternoon coffee /soft drinks
I have stayed at the Park a few times ( last time prior to this time was Jan 2020 when lobby renovations were underway) and first time at the plaza ( upgrades to suites may be more limited at the plaza smaller number of rooms)
Not sure about standard room sizes as I got the one bedroom suite at the park and the plaza executive room .
More activity around the park with the station and mall
Overall both are good but I think i prefer the Park despite it being a larger hotel
You can walk to all the major sites within the ring road ( ie Belvedere palace, Hofburg palaces, Karlskirche, opera house and theatre and Stephansplatz) from both hotels
the choice probably comes down to personal preference
