Thank you! I appreciate the advice. I suppose what I can't find is some paperwork that says the business class allowance applies in this situation. EDIT: Found it.

Specifically,
  • For Aer Lingus journeys between North America and the U.K. or continental Europe, the transatlantic checked baggage allowance will apply for all flights within a single itinerary or reservation. Relevant European or transatlantic policies shall apply to itineraries booked as separate reservations.
