When they scan your BP and don't see anything as far as status/access, I suspect they will actually want number on ticket. Agents generally seem to want to rely on what system tells them when they scan BPs and credit cards rather than someone flashing something at them which may or may not be expired/authentic. My guess is they will be more vigilant once new rules go into effect as there will likely be an uptick in people trying to get in with other mechanisms and still trying to credit to Skymiles and get DL status benefits.
