I was lucky enough to book two business class award flights for EVA with my ANA points. Unfortunately the routing was not optimal as it flies out of SFO instead of NYC. I have heard that they award space sometimes opens up a couple week prior. I understand that they wil have to cancel the first departing segment for SFO to TPE and pay the 3K per person (if NYC to TPE opens up) change fee. But stupid question are they able to only cancel the departing segment and leave the return segment? Both are on EVA if that matters. The reason I ask is that ANA only takes RT award bookings.
