i had free wi-fi service on the early morning A319 flight from MSP to DCA today. It wasn't blazing fast, but no complaints, I was able to download today's Washington Post in 30 seconds or so, check overnight emails, etc. Definitely faster than dial-up and a nice competitive move on Delta's part to make it free. I did have to log into my Skymiles account to initiate access. I am a nobody with Delta, three flights in the last year, but one of the flight attendants addressed me by name, noted my last flight was in October, and asked if everything was going OK, and thanked me for my business. I was also on a prior overnight A321N flight from ANC to MSP where internet access was advertised, but didn't work, I assume due to the overflight of Canada during most of the flight.
