Accounts were closed by AA, primarily due to repeatedly opening the same Citi AAdvantage cards. In my understanding the ban blocks earning or redeeming AAdvantage miles from all sources. Discussion is here: AA accounts restricted (Nov/Dec 2019) There was another thread in the AA forum, but I think it was closed.
