Okay, this is the type of useful information I am looking for. I had wondered if the TSA recheck was closed that late or one wouldn't be allowed if flight wasn't until next day.
This implies (stated indirectly) the passenger is seeking out a connecting flight and not going outside to a hotel).

I am guessing that someone (airport employee) in the Terminal E recheck area told them to go to the United counter in Terminal C. They were probably there between 1020p and 1025p, and even though the Terminal C United counter closes at 1015pm (according to website), someone was there and took the bags. There were already tagged after all, all the person had to do was accept them.

The question still remains as to what time the Terminal E recheck closes, and if it always works to then take bags to the airline's normal ticket counter in a different terminal.

It doesn't seem like a great system for passengers who arrive internationally with checked bags after the recheck closes, and who plan on spending the night in the airport. If a passenger arrives at 10pm they are forced to take their bags and stay outside of security until ticket counters open to check bags about 4am. Is this what IAH expects of passengers?
This also states directly the passenger plans to spend the night at the airport, and implies that a hotel would not be needed.

TA? Haha. FAR from it.

You are conflating the words "imply" and "infer." You apparently inferred from the messages that there was no hotel. Some might say I actually implied there was a hotel since I indicated the passenger wanted to exit into the main non-secure area of the airport ("After dropping bags at recheck, they will walk out the normal doors into the main airport non-secure area.")

Your wondering if the ticket wasn't helpful is funny. It was actually an awesome ticket. Minimal layover abroad, business class overnight flight, arriving late, staying in the onsite hotel, and getting home early in the AM to have a full day at home. :-) Only question was whether or not luggage would check through or would have to be possessed for the overnight! :-)
i am not really conflating the words. It was also stated that the passenger intended to stay in the airport.
Also, if it is pedantry you seek, it is you're you're conflating.
The challenge in the ticket is placing a passenger into an airport in late night local time with multiple services closed with an early morning next day departure (and expectation to sleep in the airport as stated above). I wouldn't be happy with the itinerary if booked for me. If the hotel happened later, it was not indicated in the posts prior to my OP.

But in this case it may not be helpful booking a ticket arriving in the middle of the night (local time) with a long layover with a connection early in the morning without a hotel stay (implied by the conversation). If that was my itinerary i would have had a hotel with a later connecting flight the next day or looked at other itineraries to avoid the overnight long-layover issues. IMO nothing worse than being dumped in a country and everything is closed. YMMV.
