I encountered something similar with Enterprise in the UK a few years ago. It might be best described as a forensic search of the vehicle's exterior, which took ages and involved flashlights and lots of getting on the ground. I have never seen anything like it. Unsurprisingly, they also found a scratch on the bottom-facing part of the front bumper, which of course was likely there when I collected the car. They charged me a similar amount and I had to dispute it with the credit card company. Needless to say I have avoided Enterprise ever since 🤷‍♂️
