Completed 1-night paid stay (weeknight) earlier this week. Booked standard 2 Double room with anticipation that my business colleague would be joining me for the stay. I messaged the hotel two days prior to check-in after learning that his plans changed and I would be only occupant - requested change to 1 King. Obliged, and "upgraded" to room on club lounge floor, which is the 7th (top) floor, which is accessible via key only from elevators. Judging by the number of 'Do Not Disturb' hangers on doors, seemed to be considerable number of occupants on this floor (including all 3 other rooms in my cluster). As noted however, the actual (current) lounge is on the first floor. There is a conference room labelled the 'Roth Room' on the 7th floor (which apparently is named after David Lee Roth - see photo below) which I'm guessing was the lounge in a previous iteration. FWIW - evening lounge offerings included chicken tacos with fixings and cookies; breakfast included cheesy scrambled eggs, sausage, and oatmeal; soft drinks, water, chips, and granola bars available perpetually. Also has espresso machine; however, it was non-operational for me 3 out of 4 attempts (and seemed to be finicky for the breakfast attendant also).
Otherwise, pleasant if unremarkable experience. Room furnishings seem somewhat refreshed (within last 5 years). Responsive HVAC - not overly loud or disruptive. Hotel seems to be going for a bicycle theme, playing up the proximity to Lake Monona and the bike trails around it (hotel is close to the trails) - features in the art in halls and elevator bank, along with greetings note from management staff in the room. Free parking. Location is certainly not as convenient as staying closer to Capitol or UW campus (nothing really is easily walkable from hotel other than Alliant Energy Center), but is a very reasonable option for the general downtown area when their rates are roughly half of what the Hilton, AC, Graduate, or Hyatt Place are asking.
Sink is opposite the closet (safe below), and shower is opposite the (sinkless) larger vanity to left of photo
Lounge offerings in evening
Located on the Club Floor (7th) - what I presume was the former executive lounge.
