Low cost != low fare.

In general, it doesn't matter anymore (to me) given that AS has eliminated change fees. I can book now for $X, and if the fare drops to a lower price (and I learn about it due to a sale or because I reprice), I can rebook for the lower price and get the difference in wallet credit. Doesn't work with Saver fares, however.
