I have stayed at Mercure hotels, which were great and others were pretty lousy...

in Paris I have stayed at Mercure Notre-Dame Saint Germain des Prés (beside some other Accor hotels). The location is great, but the rooms are rather small but functionality, appliances and furniture good.
service also rather basic but reliable
