Anyone familiar with hotel pricing trends at Tokyo hotels?
Is anyone familiar with how hotels in Japan (in general) manage their rates as it gets closer to the date of the stay? Do they typically get cheaper or more expensive? Does it change for high season dates like cherry blossom season (I am looking at a 4 night stay in the first week of April)?
I've noticed in NYC if I booked a hotel on the day of, the rates are quite a bit lower than if I booked a day before or a few days before, which makes sense as hotels have a limited amount of time left to sell the remaining room night. I figured it should be something similar for Tokyo, but not sure if they manage it differently or don't need to worry about it during certain peak times like cherry blossom season because they're reasonably certain they'll sell out all the rooms
