You'll need to get used to that in Cairo. X-ray machines and metal arches everywhere people congregate.
I didn't find it particularly painful. Most people getting off the plane went to the bank counters to buy their visa, whereas we got ours in advance so breezed to the front of the queue.
After that, the only X-ray machine was to leave airside to go to the arrivals hall. It's not the same process as airport security in those x-ray machines. No shoes off or liquids out.
Flying out, shoes will come off and the airport security machines are separated by gender so if you need to be goosed by a security guard they are already the appropriate gender. There's a metal detector and x-ray machine before you enter the terminal as well, but by that point, you're well used to walking through arches.
