Going through the process the website is looking to charge me for seats in booking basic or regular economy. I am also confused since the BA site says it should be free. Is this normal with BA? When I have flown other Oneworld carriers they have noticed my frequent flyer number immediately in the booking system and offered the seat selection. Thank you for any advice.

From booking site
economy
it has been reported here several times that even with BA own status, sometime it tries to charge…

I believe the work around is to complete the booking ensuring your OW FF number is added, and later return to Manage MyBooking and add the seat, at which point it should calculate to £0 cost
