The Terms I quoted above talk about closing the credit card account allowing them to cancel the passes. A downgrade may not be considered a cancellation (the card retains the same number, and the account stays open from a credit history perspective).

I am about to cancel my Explorer. I already have a Gateway card from a downgrade of an old Select Visa a few years ago. Can you have more than one Gateway card?
