We stayed at both the HC Midtown and the Andaz in Dec on points (had two rooms in each) with cash rates $400-700. They are around the corner from each other. HC roof bar was closed the weekend we were there (or at least was when we went at 9PM). That was annoying. Breakfast was boring and meh. Rooms and bathrooms very cramped.

Andaz rooms were much bigger and we got upgraded to a larger room for one of our rooms. Bathrooms are huge. And nice. Breakfast was more creative and I liked the space better (basement bar but cool long wood tables). Happy hour wine in lobby every evening around 5PM.

We walked everywhere in midtown and up to the park even. Close to Grand Central so that’s a good convenience.

I would absolutely choose Andaz over Centric Midtown. No comparison.
