I have used FHR many times and this was never the case.
Which Diamond benefits are you receiving each time you book with FHR, since FHR benefits match or exceed everything Diamond provides with the exception of points earning.
Off the top of my head, I've stayed at Waldorf Astoria BKK and Conrad Tokyo using FHR rates recently.
I received points for both stays, additional credits (on top of FHR credits) at the spa for WA BKK and other misc benefits I can't quite remember.
At the Conrad Tokyo, I received a suite upgrade and access to the executive lounge (Diamond benefits that do not overlap with FHR), in additional to FHR benefits.
