Even longer ago than that....

There used to be this old man who walked with his portable YTF setup (balanced on each end of a pole slung over his shoulder) around Katong(?) (SW coast of Singapore - I haven't been back for 26 years). Sort of even looked like that guy on one of the more popular local brand name peanuts. He disappeared in the early '70s.
