Here for a short trip. First, despite combing through reviews and info online, saw no mention that the beach directly in front of the hotel…is CLOSED. That would have altered my plans had I known, but…whatever. You can access the beach about a half-mile down the road, apparently, but I didn’t think it was worth the trip — Bocagrande’s beaches were not that great anyway, as widely reported. Taxi driver told me (so, grain of salt) the beach will be closed for A YEAR…apparently doing some infrastructure repairs.
On a paid stay, received a Bay view (not Ocean) king on the RC floor (30th), as a Globalist. Suites available apparently were Premium so no freebies. Meh. Received a nice bottle of red wine as an amenity. Staff are mostly very pleasant and helpful.
Breakfast in the RC is underwhelming…the basics: some salad, breads, smoked salmon, cold cuts…and a couple of sorry hot dishes — flat omelets and slices of sausage. It’s not the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong.
Evenings, a slightly better spread…more salads, pastries, beers, soft drinks, small sandwiches, a paella-like rice, and…fried potatoes (?). Oh, no cocktails or even wine that I saw (though I didn’t ask). Serving evenings 4-6p.
Hotel is considered one of the nicer ones in Cartegena de Indias, outside of those in the historic Centro. Not sure I’d return for a stay — the pricier Centro is a nicer more interesting area, but apparently gets overrun with cruise ship passengers regularly.
Gonna checkout the Ermita (Bonvoy Tribute Portfolio) next.
And to answer the previous question…it was not difficult getting a chaise by one of the three pools (one for kids).
Edit: Just saw someone get a glass of wine in the RC.
