Hi all! Im currently searching flights from MNL-HKG-NRT/HND April 1, 2 or 3 for 6 pax. There are plenty of seats on MNL-HKG leg but there's no available on HKG-NRT/HND leg. I checked with expertflyer and both CX 500 and 542 are almost empty flights however cash prices for those seats are atleast 12k HKD RT. Any chance that they will open them for miles booking?

You are trying to book HKG to Japan flights during what would be a peak season.
The calendars (Western and Chinese) aligned at the beginning of April 2023 with a double holiday where many would only need to book 2-3 days off to get 10 days off.
Sakura season is always busy for Japanese tourism.
Many HKers have a demand to travel now that entry and exit restriction has opened up.
