I have to admit I haven't personally gotten one in a very long time (not surprising because I'm not in a customer facing role, aside from my presence here).

I believe the employee (and their leader) will get a copy of what you submit, an acknowledgement from leadership, and then they may also get some form of recognition like a "kick tail", but I'm honestly not 100% certain.
