In UAE for instance even the most flexible banks have the policy that if you become non resident they either want you to close the credit card or change the policy to have it secured against fixed deposit. Also with Amex the whole insurance part may become invalid. I claimed once through AIG (which Amex is using for insurance) car damage and they were asking for a lot of documents such as return ticket to Dubai, residence visa copies, Emirates ID etc.
