It's been a while since I had to tote a stroller but we used to use a 'umbrella' stroller because they would allow us to carry that on board. It's very basic but did the job for a holiday. Also helped that we could use it right from exiting the plane, so toddler and diaper bag went with the stroller, carryon roller and backpack with me. The stroller used to cost $25 at WMT/ToysRUS.
