Holiday Inn Express Wuppertal Hauptbahnhof

Holiday Inn Express Wupperal Hauptbahnhof

What is your Priority Club status?
Diamond

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
In general yes.

I was staying in Wuppertal with a friend visiting Wuppertal and in particular the “Schwebebahn”. In so far, the location of the hotel was perfect. Located very close to the main station and also to the city centre of Wuppertal Elberfeld and the von der Heydt Museum and Haus Fahrenkamp.

The hotel is at the bank of river Wupper. The ground floor are shops. Two elevators lead to the first floor where the check in area, the bar and the breakfast restaurant are located. There are also a number of rooms on this floor as well as on the mezzanine level. The hotel does offer parking but not gym or other amenities.

The bar area is small but has windows towards Wupper and Schwebebahn. The restaurant is adjacent.

Check-In was a slow with only one agent on duty. He was following protocol and thanked me for being a Diamond Member. I took the points and the voucher was offered.

I was assigned a room on the sixth floor far away from the elevator. The sixth floor covers only half of the building due to construction regulations. This makes this a quieter floor. You could hear the noise from the nearby street, but if the window is shut, soundproof is quite good.

You need to keycard to access the floors.

Service at the bar in the evening seems a bit disorganized. But I got my large glass of Gin Tonic. Could be busy if the hotel is full.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Standard Room and received the same room.

How are the rooms?
My room was located on the sixth floor which at the end of the hallway and was quiet. Windows could be opened. The small movable desk did its job for a a couple of e-mails on my laptop. Bu in general not so good for longer hours. Two USB plugs were wall mounted in addition to some at the bedside tables.

Water pressure of the shower was good. The door did not close that well and water was dripping on the floor. Not much. A heated mirror was also available. Shower gel and shampoo (Dove) were placed on the rack in the shower and next to the sink. There was also wall mounted bottles from the previous brand, which were empty.

Black out curtains. The air condition / heating unit does not really heat the room quite well. But okay and certainly not to cold. But you might be not happy if you prefer a very warm room. The bathroom is colder.

Towels were provided in large and medium, but not in small size.

A kettle was available as well.

Breakfast starts as 06:30 on weekday and 07:00 on weekends. A larger selection of rolls and croissant and pastries than in Düsseldorf, but no scrambled eggs. I rate is similar to Düsseldorf (and other newer HIX), but would have preferred scrambled eggs rather than a larger selection of rolls.

Paid 86 full flexible, advanced purchase would have been 68 EUR.
