The AA app runs circles around the BA one. A much slicker workflow, much nicer to look at, way more reliable and superior in most respects. I’m sad and frustrated whenever I have to use the BA app or website.

As others have pointed out, I’m sure this policy is actually costing them a lot of money in terms of staff time at checkin desks, extra calls to the phone lines, upgrades not bought, poor customer satisfaction etc.
