Doing some searching it’s the first increase in almost 10 years and a 33% increase over the previous $52.

I’m not saying drivers should have fare increase due to gas and other price inflation but surely annual increases will be more palatable in future,
Now that the Long Island Rail Road will be serving Grand Central soon, a quick Grand Central (or Penn Station) trip to Jamaica on the LIRR, followed by the AirTrain to the terminal, is both cheaper and faster than a taxi. I can see doing a taxi if you have a lot of luggage; otherwise, mass transit is my preference.
