Four Points Toronto Mississauga, ON [Master Thread]
Introduction I had a quick overnight at this hotel before a flight. This hotel is cheaper than other Marriott options mostly because the hotel is 10 km away from the airport whereas most other hotels are 3-5 km away. Room I booked under my wife’s Platinum account; we did not receive a suite upgrade but rather a more spacious room (35 sqm vs 23 sqm) so I could not complain. Suites were fully booked by the time we arrived so I am not sure the room would have been better if booked with my own Ambassador Elite account. The room was obviously recently renovated, more than fine for FP hotel. There was even a mini cooktop oven with cooking pot plus mini-fridge for people on a longer stay. Airport Shuttle Bus What stood out was not the hotel, it was the airport shuttle bus. The driver was lazy, he stayed at the wheel while passengers tried to load their suitcase in the chaotic mini-van and leaving luggage on the crowded floor. Then he complained to passengers who piled stuff because he said it could fall while driving. If he had gotten up to help, he could surely manage the luggage in an orderly fashion which many drivers do anyway. There are 2 FP hotels near YYZ airport: "FP Toronto Airport" and our hotel "FP Toronto Mississauga". The driver was asking everybody which hotel, he kept insisting on guests to look up the street address of their hotel reservation to avoid confusion, even when guests were clearly in the correct shuttle bus when they said the name of their hotel "FP Mississauga". Perhaps the driver did not even know the name of his own hotel, only the street name? Then he asked my wife the same question after she was already seated. She answered him back, but he obviously did not hear. So he shouted at her "HEY I AM TALKING TO YOU". Classy gentleman. With this kind of driver it’s not exactly setting the right tone for the hotel to incoming guests. In the morning when going back to the airport we had to make a booking in advance and due to the longer distance from the airport the frequency of the shuttle bus is not as good as most other hotels. It seemed the bus was scheduled every 40 minutes and with limited space travelers better not miss their scheduled time slot. The driver in the morning was not rude but equally did not lift a finger to assist guests with their luggage. Wifi Wifi worked well with speed of 15 Mbps. Overall Overall the main advantage I saw about this hotel was the lower price tag than hotels closer to the airport. I can understand that some people would think whether the shuttle bus takes 5 minutes or 15 minutes to reach the hotel it does not make a material difference. While I sometimes subscribe to that theory depending on the nature of my trip and the arrival time / departure time, however for a cheaper hotel a bit farther away from YYZ my preferred choice remains DoubleTree Toronto Airport West which is not far from this FP.
