Trip cancellation only covers 2 hazards:

1. Death or injury/illness of yourself or an immediate family member that causes a Physician to advise you (in writing) to not travel
2. The financial insolvency of the Common Carrier you were planning to travel with.

So that's not applicable for this situation.

That only leaves Trip Delay which covers 4 hazards: equipment failure, inclement weather, strike and hijacking/skyjacking.

While this can provide $500 of coverage, what may ultimately be the sticking point is this line from what is NOT covered:

Any delay due to a Covered Hazard which was made public or made known to You prior to Your departure.
