I'm looking at booking TK for a flight this coming summer. The return leg is ATH-IST-SFO, and there are two options for the first flight - 4AM and 10:35AM. The former has a 3 hour layover, so safe and with time to visit the lounge but . . . it leaves at 4AM. The latter, however, has only a 1:10 layover which I gather would work under nominal conditions. Based on some previous posts, it sounds like we would not have to go through security in IST, which would save a bit of time. If it matters, we'd be in business class.

Any thoughts on the wisdom of this, especially given that this flight seems to average a few minutes behind? I presume that if there's a misconnect, TK would put us on the next available flight, either on TK or another Star Alliance flight?
