My experience isn't recent (pre-covid), but AC did an excellent job with my family member who received wheelchair assistance. For background, it was 2 pax traveling together in J domestically, one was able bodied and could push the wheelchair and one who needed the wheelchair for long distances.
I can't remember how they got to the check-in counter, I think they walked themselves in using a walker. Once the check-in formalities were completed, they sat on the check-in couches and AC had a staff member arrive with a wheelchair, which took them through security. They dropped them off in the MLL where they waited before their flight. At the appropriate time, the staff member returned to pick them up, and then took them to the gate. They boarded normally, and it was quite smooth and seamless.
The return wasn't so great, the "outstation" didn't offer to take them to the MLL and it just overall wasn't as smooth. I think my family member ended up pushing the chair through the airport at the outstation compared to YYZ, where AC did all the work.
