This is a confusing implementation - the language on the MVP member benefits page now includes a 100K footnote as follows:
'Complimentary premium beverage or chocolate is available on most flights over 350 miles. Complimentary snack for MVP Gold 100K members is available on most flights over 790 miles.
Fresh meals for MVP Gold 100K are available via pre-order only. You will be asked to provide a credit card for any pre-ordered items, though the flight attendant onboard will comp one item onboard. Depending on length of flight and departure time, meal options may include one of our Picnic Packs, a Signature Fruit & Cheese Platter, a Protein Platter, a sandwich or a salad. Check alaskaair.com for current offerings.' (bold emphasis mine)
Seems like the 'complimentary snack' reference is legacy language and the 'fresh meal' language bolded above is new since Wednesday.
Most FAs I've dealt with the past few days were completely unaware of this change - and it likely hasn't surfaced much since Wednesday given that there's been no 'official' notification from corporate to 100Ks that I (or the FAs) know of.
Where it gets weird is for 100K + MM - I'm one of those.
Am I entitled to my usual MM comped fresh meal (shows zero dollars in the app when ordered) plus a snack pack to make up for the missing 'snack' benefit? Or could I choose (2) fresh meals and then have to educate an FA who might try to charge me for the 2nd one in flight?
It'd be helpful if there was some official guidance on this particular situation so that a conversation through masks with a potentially confused FA wasn't a regular occurrence going forward.
